A new day for Assisted Living facilities
The story of Resident Care Systems (RCS) software starts in 2005. Software developer Kent Carlson was living in Colorado and his mother was living in an assisted living facility in Texas, hundreds of miles away. Kent experienced first-hand the challenge of staying connected with his mother’s caregivers. How was her health? Was she eating? Who did she spend time with? Did she participate in activities? Was she happy?
Concerned about his mother’s well-being, Kent regularly spoke with the assisted living staff, who tried to respond to his inquiries but with limited success. There was either no updated information available or it was buried in the paperwork shuffle and inaccessible.
Kent knew there had to be a better way.
To solve the problem, he partnered with gerontology experts at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and the owners of The Palisades at Broadmoor Park, an award-winning independent and assisted living community known for its cutting-edge programs and facilities. Together, they set out to build a web-based system to significantly improve collaboration among the various care givers and enhance communication with families. The software would be easy to use, easy to access—from anywhere, at any time– and most importantly, it had to elevate the level of service provided to residents.
Today families are provided with timely and reassuring information about their loved ones, and caregivers are empowered to provide unprecedented personalized care. With RCS caregivers have insight into the residents’ individual needs and preferences and an understanding of strategies for successful interactions.
